From Barbara Britton's Lioness: Mahlah's Journey
Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself I'm the firstborn of my father, Zelophehad. He has entrusted me to care for my sisters and make sure his name carries into the Promised Land. |
Where do you live, and why do you choose to live there? I share a tent with my four sisters. The top is a bit lopsided, but with five active girls in the family, a little droop isn't noticed. |
What is a quirk of your personality that people don't know? Quirk? I don't have time to be quirky. Have you raised four sisters? |
Who chronicled your story, and why do you think he/she picked you? It's about time someone picked our story. We have been overlooked for Vacation Bible Schools for generations. David had an army behind him when he faced Goliath. I had four quaking sisters and an angry mob. I don't know how Barbara found us, but I am thankful our story is being told. |
What obstacles did you overcome in order to reach your happily-ever-after? Men can be stubborn. Not only the leaders of the tribes of Israel, but my neighbor Reuben who stole my heart when we were children. I had to challenge Moses for my father's land. Reuben had to wake up to the girl living behind the next tent flap. And I had to keep my sisters marching in the same direction. My happily-ever-after is in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But Reuben is the honey on the raisin cake. |
Tell us about your special lady (or your knight in shining armour, if you're the heroine). What makes him/her so special? Reuben ben Nemuel is a brave fighter for our tribe of Manasseh. He is a compassionate father to his son, Jonah. And he supported my sisters and I after he woke up to our plight–God had something to do with his eye-opening wisdom. |

The first time you saw your special person, what did you think? Was it love at first sight or did he/she have to grow on you?
