Character interview with Bailey West
Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself Hi! I’m Bailey West. I’m in my early 30s and I’ve been married a little over a year. We’re pregnant with twins! |
Where do you live, and why do you choose to live there? Born and raised in Marshall, Texas. We’re close to the Louisianan border. I love trees and water, and couldn’t live anywhere else. Scott and I live in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast called Shelley’s Heart. It belonged to his mother, and now I get to run it. Well, not right now. I’m about to pop! Scott is planning to build a home a little further down the road. My grandmother left me an antebellum mansion, but it burned to the ground in the first book. My mom and I took the insurance and have built a missionary retreat on the spot. |
What is a quirk of your personality that people don't know? I'm freakish about wanting it to snow! |
Who chronicled your story, and why do you think he/she picked you? Jody! She knows me so well. We are similar in that our past lives caused us doubt ourselves and try to please everyone. It made us both make bad choices. She wanted to tell a story of recovery from low self-esteem. I love that she gave me a good-hearted, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth husband, just like hers. |
What obstacles did you overcome in order to reach your happily-ever-after? Oh wow. A scoundrel ex-fiance who tried to steal my inheritance, a dead-beat dad, loss of my grandmother’s home, thoughts that I’m not good enough. It was a hot mess. Still is, but I think with God’s help, and Scott’s, I’m on the right track. |
Tell us about your special lady (or your knight in shining armour, if you're the heroine). What makes him/her so special? Scott thinks of everyone but himself. He carries the weight of everyone’s problems on his shoulders. He’s learning to leave things up to God, well, we’re learning that together. He hates to ask for help, which really caused him a lot of problems in the last book. He’s hung in there with me at my worst. Of course, there are those killer blue eyes. |

The first time you saw your special person, what did you think? Was it love at first sight or did he/she have to grow on you?
