Hello Izzy

What makes this book special to you?
The Shopkeeper’s Widow is my first historical romance. I found that I loved researching and writing it much more than contemporary romance I’d previously done. It won't be the last one!
What is your next project?
I am currently working on two projects. The first is a prequel novella for The Shopkeeper’s Widow working title: The Woodcarver’s Granddaughter. The second is the sequel to my contemporary romance Finding Boaz, working title: Finding Grace.
Who is your faviourte author and what is it that really strikes you abou their work?
Currently my favorite author is Regina Scott. I find her humor striking. Her characters are so real I feel like I could run into them someday. She has written American West and Regency, both are favorite time periods for me.

Let's meet Delany….

Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself
My name is Delany Button Fleet. I came to the Virginia colony with my father. We were indentured to Mr. Fleet of Norfolk, Virginia Colony.
Where do you live, and why do you choose to live there?
I still live in the Port of Norfolk. The year my father died I married the son of our master, Tom Fleet. When Tom died the family store came to me. It makes me a good living. Good enough that I plan to remove to an estate I'm building in Northumberland County.
What is a quirk of your personality that people don't know?
I love scientifical gadgets. I've recently installed a waterfall for bathing in my house. It's quite refreshing in our oppressive summer heat.
Who chronicled your story, and why do you think she picked you?
Mrs. Izzy James chronicled my story. I'm not sure why she picked me, I'm just a regular person. Oh, I just remembered. She told me once that I had qualities she admired. Qualities she'd seen in other strong women in her life.
What obstacles did you overcome in order to reach your happily-ever-after?
I'm thankful it's a short list: Lord Dunmore's raids, Kidnapping, the biggest thing was his ownership of his parents plantation and all the people there.
Tell us about your special romantic interest. What makes them so special?
I do not really know where to begin. I've known Field since I was a girl. He's fascinated by God's creation. He'll make a wonderful planter. He's spontaneous and lively. His eyes sparkle with good humor. He tells wonderful stories. To say nothing of his broad shoulders and how well he dances.

The first time you saw your special person, what did you think? Was it love at first sight or did they have to grow on you?
We were so young, I'm not sure I was thinking anything like what your question implies. I knew he was special. I've always known he was special and that he would play an important role in my life.
