If you could meet any person, living or dead, who would it be and why?

My answer to this varies each time I see the question. There are millions of saints who have gone before. “Small” people who only influence a family member or two. Musicians who strike a chord. David who penned most of the Psalms. Multiple biblical women. Authors. Oh, the many, many writers who have spoken to my heart. I know I’ll meet most of those, and multitudes more in heaven. The number one being Jesus Himself.

Today, I’m going to say Billy Graham. This great man of God was an American evangelist who reached countless millions of people with his message of how to come to Christ. His humble, entreating voice is instantly recognized by any who ever heard a televised crusade message.

For some time in this twenty-first century, my heart has cried out for my country. Billy Graham visited the White House numerous times and encouraged our presidents. I’m not talking politics, I’m talking revival.

Yes, our country needs a spiritual awakening if it is going to survive. I would ask Billy Graham how to organize such a feat. I would ask how long Christians had to suffer, as we watch those children who grew up in the church, even heard the Gospel message, and no longer attend worship services. Why their children are so influenced by the world that they choose to sleep around, or shack-up, for years before committing to marriage (if they ever do).

I would ask Reverend Graham how God got his attention, when he was called to the ministry, when he was baptized, how and when he received the notion to evangelize through the crusades. Who influenced him to use the hymn “Just as I Am” for an altar call?

How did he meet George Beverly Shea? How did he deal with the sins and actions of his own family when they rebelled? Did he take personal pride in the accomplishments of his children?

I’m convicted now to practice what I’ve written by devoting part of my prayer time seeking the actions of Christians to become powerful. And I’ll continue to trust God’s got this, whether His will is for another spiritual revival in our country or not.

“…and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14 NASB
