Meet  Heath Bancroft, the hero in A Cup of Christmas Kindness by LoRee Peery

Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself
My name is Heath Bancroft. As a teenager I did odd jobs at the courthouse in Wahoo. I liked it so I went into law enforcement. Now I’m a Motor Vehicle Fraud Investigator for state of Nebraska. I work in the state office building near the capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Where do you live, and why do you choose to live there?
I stayed in my hometown of Ceresco, just 20 miles north of the city. I never imagined living anywhere else. My dad’s there and it’s a great place to raise my daughter Charlotte.
What is a quirk of your personality that people don't know?
My favorite color is Violet and I like to where various shades of purple. Pretty stupid since Violet is the name of the girl who crushed me.
Who chronicled your story, and why do you think he/she picked you?
Author LoRee Peery. And your guess is as good as mine. Maybe because she loves people from small towns in Nebraska? I’ve read she favors reunion stories.
What obstacles did you overcome in order to reach your happily-ever-after?
I’d been burned twice. First by Violet Steele, whom I grew up with in the same block. I never understood why she left me for California. Then there’s my ex. Don’t want to go there, except without her I wouldn’t have my baby girl. Violet returned and I wanted nothing to do with her. I couldn’t deal with all the feelings on top of my mother’s death and seeing that my dad’s ok. But Charlotte and Violet fell for each other, so that softened my heart. I couldn’t argue with God about it any longer.
Tell us about your special romantic interest. What makes them so special?
Oh, man, besides her beauty that lights up a room, Violet is the best person I know other than my girl. There’s not a mean bone in Violet’s body. She surprises people with sweet treats and special gifts. She even holds doors open for strangers. She loves the Lord and oh, how she filled in with loving Charlotte after my mom died. How could I turn my back on the way she fills my life with energy and light?

The first time you saw your special person, what did you think? Was it love at first sight or did they have to grow on you?
We grew up together, our backyards butted up so we had only to run out the back door and across the yards. She was just one of the guys. Went to school together. We had a special climbing tree west of town. One day when we were twelve we carved our initials in that tree. That’s when her sea green eyes tuned secretive and her blonde hair looked like spun gold. I started getting a lump in my throat and didn’t know what to say. Before I knew it, we’d hold hands when we walked. The special good nights on her porch kept me awake. Oh, I could just go on and on.

thank you LoRee
