We serve a God of second chances. Not many people get it right the first time. Where would we be if God left Moses in the wilderness after murdering an Egyptian or if He gave up on David after he stole another man’s wife? What about Paul, who before he met Jesus, was hauling Christians off to prison? Because God gave them all a second chance, Moses led God’s people out of slavery, David became a great king of Israel, and Paul became arguably the world’s greatest missionary.
Second chances aren’t only for people in Bible times. God is still giving them out today. God can do amazing things with people who ask for forgiveness. All we need to do is ask and be willing to let Him change our hearts.
In my latest book, A Second Chance for Grace, many of the characters made mistakes, but God restores them. The book follows the lives of the characters from Following the Sparrows, since I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the town or the friends I’d made there. It’s a story of love, heartbreak, betrayal, mystery, and difficult decisions, but mostly, it’s a story of God’s grace and the blessing of second chances.
