When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:2, 19 KJV
Scripture tells us that we’ll walk through the waters, the rivers, and fires in this life. It doesn’t say ‘if’ it happens, but WHEN we go through these things. We’re told the water won’t sweep over us. And the flame won’t burn us, and we won’t be set ablaze. God promises to be with us, despite whatever storm that is raging around us. In fact, God promises to make a way for us.
My heroine, Ellie Lou Williams, is in a situation where she hasn’t been hearing from God and the storm is blasting her on all sides. What she thinks will be a quick fix, doesn’t quite turn out to be what it seems. Perhaps you can relate to Ellie Lou.
In fact, when I was writing Convincing Lou, the Lord led me through my own violent storm where the only thing I could do was cling to Him. While the storm may still be raging in my own life, I’m trusting God to carry me through to the other side. I hope you will too.
