Meet Haylee Beth Thomas from The Journey by Marianne Evans

Tell us your name and a little bit about yourself
Hi! I'm Haylee Beth Thomas, and I'm glad to meet you! By the way, we're friends, right? My friends and family always refer to me as HB. My family has owned and operated Thomas' Grocery for generations. I love my family and to me, it's an honor to uphold our legacy of provision. I recently took over the day-to-day running of the store from my dad. Talk about having big (and exceptional!) shoes to fill
Where do you live, and why do you choose to live there?
I'm a life long member of the Antioch, Indiana community. Small town life has always–and will always–define me. It's the foundation of who I am.
What is a quirk of your personality that people don't know?
I. Love. Cereal. Any time of the day, any time of the night, I love milk and cereal. Hey, it's not just for breakfast anymore!
Who chronicled your story, and why do you think she picked you?
Marianne Evans chose to tell the story of my love affair with Benjamin Fisher. She must be a romantic at heart, because when we told her our story, she seemed enthusiastic about our history, and the way a childhood love bloomed to fruition.
What obstacles did you overcome in order to reach your happily-ever-after?
Just when Ben and I were able to find our way to one another, an opportunity for Ben to serve in missionary work came alive, and called to his spirit. I didn't want to stand in the way of such a beautiful, ordained plan–but at the same time, I didn't want to leave Antioch, and the life I had built hand-in-heart with my family. Love, however, always finds a way.
Tell us about your knight in shining armour. What makes him/her so special?
Ben Fisher is the epitome of the strong/silent type. His heart is so solid and giving–a treasure to be sure. To be honest, I've always loved him. I've known him since birth, really, and…are you ready for this…? He was the first boy I ever kissed. What I discovered is, I wanted him to be the last, too.
The first time you saw your special person, what did you think? Was it love at first sight or did he have to grow on you?
Ben and I have been best friends forever. For-EVER. He didn't need to grow on me, he held my heart from the time I was five. We just needed to let life catch up with us, and allow us the chance to figure out what we should do about that truth…
