While I was writing Taming Julia, and introduced Joshua Walker, I knew that he had to have a history for why he wanted to avoid towns and live along the trail. Protecting Annie explores Josh’s reasons. He has to come face to face with not running from who God created him to be. In the process of writing this story, I found Annie McPherson had her own things she was running from.

We shouldn’t be surprised that we often find ourselves in situations where we’re running from the call of God. After Elijah experienced the Lord in a mighty way and was part of an incredible miracle, he found himself fleeing and hiding on a mountain. It was there the Lord came to speak to him in a soft whisper. You can read more about it in 1 Kings 18-19.

There are times I get sidetracked, worried, and overwhelmed. In other words, I get distracted from working on God’s call on my life – who He created me to be. While He doesn’t promise following Him will always be easy, He does promise He’ll always be with us. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be walking the path He’s chosen for me instead of going my own way. He knows what is best. You won’t be disappointed if you chose to follow who He created you to be. Why don’t you give it a try?
